Origin of the name White Earth: The Inuit
(indigenous people inhabiting the Arctic regions of Canada, Alaska and
Greenland) name for Greenland is Kalallit Nunaat which translates to white
earth. |

WhiteEarth’s mission is to educate people about the importance of
reflecting sunlight back away from earth. Since human activities have
greatly impacted the subtle balance of the planet's Albedo (reflectivity
index of the planet itself), and little or nothing is done by governments
about it, we strongly believe a citizen’s approach is the right course and
the time to act is now. Many theories are out there about Global-Warming,
most agree it's here to stay, it’s getting worse increasingly fast and
it's real. Unfortunately by the time our governments implement meaningful
laws and enforce them on a global scale as to generate measurable
improvements, it will most certainly be too little, too late for our
civilization to continue existing the way we do now. However, there are
actions that each and everyone of us can take today to offset the negative
impact we have already had on our planet. The aim of this organization is
to make all the information available to everyone, get the conversation
going with the experts, share the outcome with everyone, pressure our
government officials to act, and with the right knowledge, get each and
everyone of us involved with making small incremental changes of our own.
All these small changes made by a lot of people will have a spectacular
impact in slowing down, maybe even reversing Global-Warming. Let’s make the
right decisions now, let’s “paint the earth white”
and save money in the process, and future generations
will get to enjoy the same quality of life on earth as we do today.

VISION |
| Averaged over the last 30 years, we have lost
62,000 square kilometers of Arctic ice PER YEAR, just
Arctic ice (There is a lot of ice elsewhere that is melting too). That's
667,362,420,000 square feet
of white earth, ice if you will, that is not reflecting sunlight back into the atmosphere any more!
If we want to offset this disappearance, each human being, EACH YEAR has
to cover the earth with 103 square feet
of "mat white paint something". Otherwise, the earth gets warmer. That's a
fact. That is just Arctic ice "replacement". What about Antarctic Ice?
What about glaciers? Even if human activities
are not causing global warming, we are deforesting, we are taking over the
land, farming, urbanizing, building all sorts of structures, roads and
parking everywhere (black asphalt), etc...World air and ocean temperatures
are rising, sea levels are
rising, the weather is more extreme, the signs are here. Let's start
painting! Not every person on earth has the means to get it done
consequently those who can should do more. |

|
Recent global temperatures demonstrate
human-induced warming: Over the past 25 years temperatures
have increased at a rate of 0.19°C per decade, in very good agreement with
predictions based on greenhouse gas increases. Even over the past ten
years, despite a decrease in solar forcing, the trend continues to be one
of warming. Natural, short-term fluctuations are occurring as usual, but
there have been no significant changes in the underlying warming trend.

150 glaciers a century ago to 35 today.
|

<
Greenland
ice sheet melting fast, thinning, shrinking, disappearing, not recovering. |
|
Acceleration of melting of ice-sheets, glaciers
and ice-caps: A wide array of satellite and ice measurements now
demonstrate beyond doubt that both the Greenland and Antarctic ice-sheets
are losing mass at an increasing rate. Melting of glaciers and ice-caps in
other parts of the world has also accelerated since 1990.
|
|
Rapid Arctic sea-ice decline:
Summer-time melting of Arctic sea-ice has accelerated far beyond the
expectations of climate models. The area of sea-ice melt during 2007-2009
was about 40% greater than the average prediction from IPCC AR4 climate
models.
|
| Fact: 90 to 95
percent of scientists believe climate change is real and it has a human
influence. |
 |
< Earth's Albedo in
Decline |
| Arctic
sea ice reflects sunlight, keeping
the polar regions cool and moderating global climate. According to
scientific measurements, Arctic sea ice has declined dramatically over at
least the past thirty years, with the most extreme decline seen in the
summer melt season. |
| The melting of
glaciers will raise sea levels dramatically by 2050 |
|
|
|
| The shrinking
of the ice caps speeds up global warming |
| Fact: The Polar
Regions are amongst the fastest warming places on Earth and predictions
suggest that in the future we'll see warming sea surface temperatures,
rising ocean acidification and decreasing winter sea ice -- all of which
have a direct effect on marine life. |

It is estimated that it will take 100 years before
any substantial CO2 reduction. Reflection of sunlight can not only STOP
climate change, it can do it OVERNIGHT. It can get the global temperature
back to the level it was at before. Since the industrial revolution, the
heat started by human activity doesn’t even amount to 30,700 sq. km, or
less than 1/10,000 of the heat that the earth receives from the sun. The
earth receives an amount of energy from the sun equivalent to the global
oil reserves every 36 hours. REFLECTING just a few percent more of
this energy will have OVERNIGHT effect. The albedo of an object
is the extent to which it diffusely reflects light from the sun. This
solution is not going to be remotely as expensive as what the politicians
are suggesting we do. Now imagine our world with REFLECTION in
mind? Every buildings, houses, structures, cars, trucks, SUV's,
etc...white and turning into reflective "units"! The latest scientific
estimates say that 60,000 sq. km (an area just slightly bigger than
Denmark) of REFLECTIVE materials is all it would take to STOP CLIMATE
CHANGE! More and more scientists agree that we will pass the tipping point
no matter how many CO2 reductions we make. Population is rising 220,000
people per day (optimumpopulation.org)…we cannot sustain such a
demographic increase, we have to level off. The tipping point is too close
to rely on slow narrow minded political solutions. Keep reducing CO2
emissions and START REFLECTING! Yes, please do
raise your voice, but also change climate change by raising your
consciousness as well. Know that 10 sq. meter of mirror/mat white paint
will offset 1 ton of CO2 (Berkeley National Laboratory).

< ^ The Antarctic
ice sheet was formed over thousands of years by snow accumulation. As the
snow compacts to ice and moves to the coast, it floats out on the ocean,
forming massive ledges known as ice shelves. Seven ice shelves have
disintegrated in the past 20 years in
Antarctica. |

Thinner you = healthier planet.
Reversing the damage of global warming won't be easy, but we all can help
just by losing a little weight. Researchers at the London School of
Hygiene and Tropical Medicine found that the heavier we are, the more
greenhouse gases we produce. Here's how it works., according to their
research. If you eat more, it takes more energy to produce your food; if
you gain weight, you're more likely to drive a car than walk (using more
energy), and the car you drive is likely to be a larger car (which is less
fuel-efficient). Mother Nature would really like us to get on a diet! |

December 15th 2009, former Vice President
Al Gore addressed the largest international climate meeting in history,
currently underway in Copenhagen, Denmark. Interrupted often with
outbursts of applause and ending with a standing ovation, Vice President
Gore made clear what's at stake during the U.N. Conference this week:
nothing short of the future of human civilization as we know it.
Watch the
speech: http://repoweramerica.org/wall/#/view/44235
Calling for swift action on a global scale this year, particularly in the
United States, Vice President Gore reminded negotiators in attendance that
“we are all in this together,” and that failure in Copenhagen is not an
option.

| Donate your
time: WhiteEarth.org is all about acting fast, and that requires a lot of
actions to take place simultaneously. Consequently we are always looking
for helpful talented people to volunteer their time and help the cause in
any way that is necessary. WhiteEarth also needs a celebrity
SPOKESPERSON. Donate your talent: WhiteEarth.org is committed to
excellence, which means that we are looking for the best experienced
volunteers possible to staff the board of directors who will come up
with strategies with the greatest impact possible, which themselves will
recruit a second circle of volunteers which will implement all the
tactics with the help of yet another circle of volunteers who will bring
to life the vision of the organization by executing a myriad of action
items. For us to stay current with the latest technologies, news,
press-releases and social media, the best minds in their respective
fields are always welcome to volunteer, write, debate, using our
constructive platform in every which way possible. Donate your talent
and become our celebrity SPOKESPERSON.
Donate your treasures: WhiteEarth.org needs all
the help it can get, big and small. WhiteEarth.org is a "start-up"
organization, which at this time is in the process of legitimization of
its legal status, which means we cannot ask for donations in the pure
sense of the word, but we can ask for help with all the preliminary
steps related to setting up a non-profit, as long as you know that this
is what the money will be used for. If you believe in what we are doing
and the urgency associated with educating the people so that they can
make the right decision for the planet, then do what you can as soon as
you can...Other "items" needed: use of a small residence to host the
offices, meetings, etc...in Southern Cal, preferably San Diego County.
And of course, we are always looking for writers, photographers, and
sponsors. If you like what we do please become an active
participant on this platform. |

| Planting
trees is one of the most important things in combating global warming.
Statistics show, each living tree captures 1.2+ tons of Carbon per year as
well as keeping a lot of water contained within. Plant more trees on your
property, on your lawn...every chance you get. Suggest the same, to your
place of work, to your family, your friends and neighbors. |

YOU can have
the greatest most significant impact now. Start buying white cars and white
roofs to save money on air conditioning, white trailers, white garden furniture, use white stucco on all
wall crowning, white garden sheds, white patio awnings, white hats, white
shirts, coats, overcoats, white car covers, white boat covers, white car
ports, white umbrellas, white covered patios and decks, white tiled
swimming pools, white tiled island barbecues, white roofed trucks and
trailers, white roof train cars. Only elect public officials that will
wage the war against military spending, and increase government sponsored
Global-Warming initiatives with concrete results seen at the local level
with city ordinances that allow the public to do the right thing to their
houses, etc... Also public officials that will push for public
transportations with white roofs, public buildings with white roofs, light
colored concrete roads rather than asphalt, light concrete sidewalks,
light concrete parking lots, bus stops with white roofs, government
vehicles with white roofs, white water tower roofs, etc...The time to act
is now, let's "paint" the world white!
